Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Dalam Pembelajaran Biologi Di Sman Binaan Khusus Kota Dumai
Critical thinking skills are one of the fundamental skills in learning in the 21st century, which must be developed to increase effectiveness in biology learning. This realm of thinking is an important study that is not only related to the educational aspect but to every aspect of life. However, in reality there are still students who are less involved in learning process activities which causes students' critical thinking skills to be less than optimal, such as students' lack of ability to analyze problems when working on questions in biology learning.
Binaan Khusus Public Senior High School of Dumai City which has a vision of creating superior human resources who have a high level of thinking, one of which is the ability to think critically. However, from the results of the researcher's analysis, when carrying out teaching assistance at Binaan Khusus Public Senior High School of Dumai City, it was seen that students' abilities were still not evenly distributed, where in the results of students' daily tests on the concept of biodiversity material, only a few dominant classes got scores above the Minimum Standard.
Based on this problem, the researcher wants to carry out further analysis regarding the critical thinking skills of class X at Binaan Khusus Public Senior High School of Dumai City by conducting a survey using instruments in the form of test questions and questionnaires aimed at finding out a picture of the critical thinking skills of all students in class X Binaan Khusus Public Senior High School of Dumai City. Hoped that this research will provide benefits for various parties, including students, by providing an overview of examples of critical thinking questions so that they are accustomed to working on questions that hone critical thinking skills, for teachers providing information on which parts of students' critical thinking skills need to be paid attention to. and further developed, as a guide in creating critical thinking questions in biology learning so that the goals to be achieved are in line with expectations. For researchers, it can be used as a reference in developing research related to critical thinking skills.
This research was carried out at at Binaan Khusus Public Senior High School of Dumai City and the Biology Education Study Program in March-September 2024. The subjects in this research were Class The parameters of this research are students' critical thinking skills. The research instruments used are multiple choice test questions and questionnaires which have been revised and validated by experts and have been tested on biology students as initial respondents and have successfully passed the validity and reliability tests via the Anates 4.0 application.
The results obtained in this research are that the critical thinking skills of class . This is also supported by data from student questionnaires which show that the percentage of students' critical thinking skills is 73%, which is classified as good.
On average, students' critical thinking skills are dominated by certain indicators. The results of the analysis of the average value show that the indicators of concluding and synthesizing skills are classified as high critical thinking skills. Meanwhile, the indicators of interpretation, explanation, evaluation, self-regulation and problem solving skills are classified as moderate critical thinking skills. And the analyzing indicators are classified as low.
Based on the results of this research, the suggestions that can be given are as follows: teachers can improve students' critical thinking skills, especially their analytical skills. Provide and apply HOTS questions in the implementation of student learning evaluations. For future researchers to conduct research on the analysis of critical thinking skills with respondents from other schools, it is better to use test questions using 2 forms of test questions, namely multiple choice and essays. And guided by the latest instruments.
