Konsentrasi Penggunaan Carbopol 940 Sebagai Pengental Pada Sampo Lidah Buaya Dan Daun Waru
ABSTRACT
Shampoo contains active substances and additives such as viscosity thickeners, surfactants, foam stabilizers, preservatives and other additives. One of the things that need to be considered in formulating shampoo includes the viscosity. Carbopol 940 has a high viscosity as a thickener. This study aims to obtain the best concentration of carbopol 940 on the characteristics of shampoo made from aloe vera and waru leaves physically and chemically. The active substances used were aloe vera extract (Aloe vera L.) and waru leaves (Hibiscus tiliaceus L.). Treatments included AW1 (addition of carbopol 940 0.90%), AW2 (addition of carbopol 940 1.20%), AW3 (addition of carbopol 940 1.50%), AW4 (addition of carbopol 940 1.80%) and AW5 (addition of carbopol 940 2.10%). The data obtained were statistically analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The addition of carbopol 940 concentration to the shampoo formulation had a significant effect on pH, viscosity, foam height, specific gravity, emulsion stability, and overall hedonic test and had no significant effect on skin irritation and shampoo aroma hedonic. Based on the research that has been done, the best results in this study are in the AW5 treatment with the addition of carbopol 940 concentration of 2.10% with a shampoo pH of 6.89, shampoo viscosity value of 2483.20 cP, shampoo foam height value of 9.954 cm, shampoo specific gravity value of 1.089 g/ml, shampoo skin irritation value of 0 (non-irritating), shampoo emulsion stability value of 78.027% and hedonic test with shampoo color value of 3.99 (like), shampoo aroma value of 2.75 (slightly like), and shampoo texture value of 3.81 (like).
