Dampak Penambangan Emas Terhadap Keanekaragaman Makrozoobentos Di Sungai Batang Kuantan
Kuantan Singingi Regency (Kuansing) is one of the districts crossed by two major rivers, namely the Batang Kuantan River and the Singingi River with a river flow area of 22,672 km². This study aims to analyze the impact of Unlicensed Gold Mining (PETI) activities on the diversity of macrozoobentos in the Batang Kuantan River, Kuantan Singingi Regency. Two observation stations were selected, each representing locations with no PETI activity and locations with PETI activity. Data collection was carried out through the identification of macrozoobentos and measurement of water quality parameters. The results showed that stations without PETI activity had a higher macrozoobentos diversity index (H'=1.48) compared to locations with PETI activity (H'=0.82). Organic pollution is indicated by the high COD and BOD values at station two, as well as the dominance of pollution-tolerant species such as Macrobrachium lar. This study confirms that PETI activities reduce the quality of waters and river biodiversity, and affirms the importance of using macrozoobentos as bioindicators of aquatic ecosystems.
