Isolasi Bakteri Endofit Tanaman Sintrong (Crassocephalum Crepidioides) Dan Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Terhadap Bakteri Patogen
This study aimed to isolate endophytic bacteria from Sintrong (Crassocephalum crepidioides) and evaluate their antibacterial activity against the pathogenic bacteria Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Isolation was conducted using the direct planting technique, followed by partial characterization to obtain pure isolates. Antibacterial activity was tested using the disc diffusion method. The results showed that among the 8 isolates obtained, some exhibited antibacterial activity against both pathogenic bacteria. The largest inhibition zone against E.coli was observed in isolate BEL 2.2.3 (8.78 mm), while the largest zone against S.aureus was observed in isolate BEL 1.3.1 (10.98 mm). Both were categorized as resistant according to the CLSI standard for 10 µg chloramphenicol. Statistical analysis using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT), revealed significant differences in the antibacterial activity of the isolated endophytic bacteria against the two test bacteria. This study demonstrates that endophytic bacteria from Sintrong have the potential to produce effective alternative antibacterial compounds, offering a promising solution to the problem of antibiotic resistance.
