Tourism development is an effort to develop or advance tourist objects so
that they are better and more attracting tourists to visit them. Thus, the benefits
and benefits are also felt by the surrounding population, especially the people in
Central Tapanuli Regency. Central Tapanuli Regency is one area that has tourism
and cultural potential. Therefore, it is important to develop tourism in Central
Tapanuli Regency in order to attract more tourists. Tourism in Central Tapanuli
Regency does not only depend on the beaches and islands because there are other
potential assets that can become the foundation for tourism development. The
asset is local art from the area. Because local arts are well revitalized, it will be
an attraction for tourism development in Central Tapanuli Regency. So that the
purpose of this research is to see how the development of tourism in Central
Tapanuli district.Where this research uses the theory of tourism development by
Cooper Tourism in Sunaryo 2013, with the indicators, namely institutions,
accessibility, amenities, ancillary service and attraction. This study uses a
purposive sampling technique with qualitative research types and the required
data such as primary and secondary data obtained through observation,
interviews, and documentation, then analyzed based on research problems. The
results of the study indicate that tourism development based on the specified
indicators has not yet been proven with accessibility and public facilities that
have not met. Then the supporting factors for this tourism development are the
existence of institutions or organizations involved in tourism development in
Central Tapanuli Regency, tourist attractions in Central Tapanuli Regency have
local artistic characteristics, and community participation which is considered
quite high. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are limited funds and ownership
status.
