Pengaruh Salinitas Terhadap Kinerja Fisiologis Benih Ikan Baung (Hemibagrus Nemurus)
The asian redtail catfish has a tolerance for brackish waters and is can to
carry out its metabolism properly and produce energy for respiration and
osmolarity so that optimal survival will achieved.
This study aims to analyze the osmoregulation response of asian redtail
catfish seeds to different salinities, to obtain optimal salinity for good
physiological performance for it, to analyze the survival and growth at different
salinities.
The research conducted for 30 days at the Laboratory of Aquaculture,
Faculty of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, Riau University, Pekanbaru. The
containers used in this study were glass aquariums with a size (60 x 40 x 40 cm)
of 20 units, the volume of water for each container was 30 liters which was
equipped with aeration. The experimental medium used was a mixture of fresh
water and sea water. The test fish used in this study were asian redtail catfish
seeds (Hemibagrus nemurus) with a size of 7,17±0,04 cm, which obtained from
the Tibun Fish Seed Center, Kampar. Density of 30 fish per aquarium. The feed is
in the form of pellets with a protein content of 35% was given three times a day ad
libitum. The observed parameters that measured included: the level of osmotic
performance, the level of oxygen consumption, the level of the hormone cortisol,
survival and growth. Measurements of fish weight and length carried out at the
beginning and end of the study. The study used a completely randomized design
(CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments are 3 ppt, 6 ppt, 9 ppt,
12 ppt and 15 ppt.
The results showed that the 9 ppt treatment showed the best results with
fish plasma osmolarity of 0.5 mOsm/l H2O followed by 12 ppt salinity of 63.5
mOsm/l H2O, 6 ppt salinity of 74.75 mOsm/l H2O, 3 ppt salinity of 136 mOsm/l
H2O and the highest at 15 ppt salinity of 139 mOsm/l H2O. The best cortisol
hormone levels were at 3 ppt salinity of 12.56 ng/mL, 6 ppt salinity of 13.95
ng/mL, 12 ppt salinity of 20.23 ng/mL, 9 ppt salinity of 29.40 ng/mL and 15 ppt
salinity of 66.65 ng/mL. The best level of oxygen consumption is at 3 ppt salinity
of 0.9 mgO2/g/hour, 6 and 15 ppt salinity of 1.0 mgO2/g/hour, 9 ppt salinity of 1.6
mgO2/g/hour and 12 ppt salinity of 1.9 mgO2/g/hour. The best survival found at
3, 6 and 9 ppt of 100%, then 12 ppt of 85% and the lowest 15 ppt of 20% salinity.
The best weight growth found in 3 ppt salinity of 8.90 g, 6 ppt salinity of 6.37 g, 9
ppt salinity of 6.03 g, 12 ppt salinity of 4.41 g and 15 ppt salinity of 1.42. The best
length growth of the asian redtail catfish was at 3 ppt salinity of 2.04 cm, 6 ppt
salinity of 1.47 cm, 9 ppt salinity of 0.98, 12 ppt salinity of 0.71 and 15 ppt
salinity of 1.44 cm. Water quality during the study was in the form of temperature
25.5-30.25 oC and DO 5.04-8.6.
