ABSTRACT
Various programmes to increase farmers' income have been implemented by the government, one of which is the cattle and oil palm integration system (SISKA) programme, which is a combination of oil palm and cattle business where cattle waste is used as oil palm organic fertiliser while oil palm waste is used as cattle feed. However, many farmer groups chose not to continue the programme due to several reasons that were not favourable to the farmers. Individually, farmers who previously integrated cattle with oil palm continue to engage in cattle farming. This study aims to analyse the income structure and contribution of cattle business to farmers' household income. This research was conducted in Rumbio Jaya District, Kampar Regency. The method used in this research is the survey method and the research respondents were taken as many as 15 farmers by simple random sampling. The results showed that farmers' household income comes from the main income and side income. The main income of farmers comes from oil palm farming, while the side income of farmers comes from cattle farming. The total household income of oil palm farmers who have cattle in Rumbio Jaya District averages Rp.47,258,049.20/year with an income structure of 47.45% with an average of Rp.22,421,982.59/year contributed from the main income (oil palm), 38.67% with an average of Rp.18,276,066.62/year contributed from side income (cattle), and 13.88% with an average of Rp.6,560,000/year contributed from non-farm income.
