Prarancangan Pabrik Metanol Dari Biomassa Dengan Disain Alat Utama Kolom Distilasi
ABSTRACT
Methanol is the simplest form of alcohol. Methanol is often referred to as methyl alcohol, wood alcohol or spirit which includes chemical compounds with the chemical formula CH3OH. Most of methanol, is produced from fossil fuels and more than 85% of global methanol production is based on natural gas reforming and gasification of coal. Biomass is biological material derived from living things, or organisms. In the context of biomass for energy, it is often used as a vegetable material, but biomass can be applied to both animal and vegetable derived materials. The purpose of this design is to design a concept of a methanol plant from biomass, utilize biomass into renewable energy, find out the factors that influence the process of making methanol from biomass, and absorb local workers. The pre-designed Methanol plant with the Lurgi Process with a capacity of 200,000 tons/year will be planned in Sungai Sembilan District, Dumai, Riau Province. The main raw material used in the production of methanol is palm shells. The results of the pre-design economic analysis of the Methanol Plant are BEP 30%, ROI 36.74%, IRR 22.74%, and PBP 1.34 years.
