Karakterisasi Trikoma Pada Rhizoma Paku Epifit Dari Kota Duri, Kecamatan Mandau, Kabupaten Bengkalis, Riau

ABSTRACT
Trichome is one of the epidermal derivation as an additional tool that has a unicellular or multicellular traits. This stucture is commonly found in fern rhizome, and can be used to support taxonomical study. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of trichomes on epiphytic fern rhizomes from Duri City, Mandau District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau. Sampling was carried out using the exploratory method. Trichome preparations were prepared using the incision method. All of the trichome specimens were observed using microscope and documented. Data were presented in table and figure, and were then analyzed descriptively. A total of 10 types of epiphytic ferns were identified in this study. The results shows a non-glandular and tapering trichome in all of identified fern species, with multicellular (seven species) and unicellular (three species) trichome. Each species show its own characteristic of trichome especially in its shape of base, length and shape of branch as well as the present or absent of spine.
