ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to find out the characteristics of smallholders and to examine the perceptions of independent smallholders who are members of the Hasrat Jaya Producers Cooperative towards the implementation of Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) in Pagaruyung Village, Bangkinang District, Kampar Regency. This research was conducted by survey method. Determination of the sample was carried out by simple random sampling of 30 samples. Results The characteristics of the smallholders of the Hasrat Jaya Producers Cooperative seen from the average gender are male, then they have a very productive age category to carry out oil palm farming activities, while the average formal education of the smallholders of the Hasrat Jaya Producers Cooperative are high school graduates, the number of dependents of the planters' families ranges from 1-4 people, the length of time the smallholders have been farming ranges from 21-25 years, the average plantation area of the planters is 6 hectares, and the status of land ownership as a whole is privately owned land, the intensity of smallholders participating in extension activities is 2 times a year, the source of information obtained by smallholders is from KUD and the ease of obtaining production facilities for smallholders is very easy to obtain. The results of the perception of the farmers of the Hasrat Jaya Producers Cooperative regarding the implementation of Good Agriculture Practices in the 5 indicators used show 3 indicators namely seeding, plant maintenance and harvesting are in the "very easy to implement" category and one indicator of land clearing preparation is in the "easy to implement" category. but there are indicators of controlling plant pests that are in the category of "not easy to implement".
