Sintesis Zeolit A Dari Fly Ash Batubara Dengan Metode Alkali Fusi Hidrotermal Dan Uji Adsorptivitas Terhadap Ion Kadmium(Ii)
SUMMARY
Fly ash Coal is one of the potential wastes as a raw material in the manufacture of synthetic zeolite. Use Fly ash coal in zeolite synthesis due to the high content of SiO2 and Al2O3 in fly ash coal. The aim of this study was to synthesize zeolite A from coal fly ash using the alkaline hydrothermal fusion method with variations in synthesis time for 5 hours, 12 hours and 24 hours and to apply it as an adsorbent in adsorbing cadmium (II) ions with variations in contact time of 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes and 120 minutes. The sodium aluminate used in the synthesis of zeolite is prepared using a Si/Al ratio of 1.9. Characterization in the study was carried out by analysis of XRF, XRD, FTIR and AAS. Data from characterization of fly ash coal using XRF proves that fly ash Coal contains SiO2 of 35.518% and Al2O3 12.153%. The XRD data shows a peak of 2θ = 7.20˚, 10.17˚ and 12.46˚ which is zeolite A. From the results of the XRD obtained crystal sizes successively at variations of hydrothermal synthesis 5 hours, 12 hours and 24 hours of 26.89 nm, 25.38 nm, 25.6 nm and crystallinity of 95.17%, 71.16% and 58.54%. FTIR results show that zeolite A has Al-O-Si functional groups, double rings, T-O strain symmetry and T-O asymmetric strain. The results of the analysis using AAS showed that the optimum adsorption efficiency of cadmium (II) ions was obtained at 60 minutes of contact time of 66.18% with an adsorption capacity of 7.7487 mg/g.
