Identifikasi Senyawa Metabolit Sekunder Dan Aktivitas Antioksidan Ekstrak Rumput Laut Merah (Gelidium sp.)
Abstract
Seaweed is one of the main aquaculture commodities that has economic value and has enormous potential in Indonesia, however the use of seaweed, especially the Gelidium sp type, is still underutilized. This research aims to determine the chemical composition of Gelidium sp, determine the percentage of flour yield, secondary metabolite compounds contained in the red seaweed Gelidium sp. qualitatively and quantitatively and determine the antioxidant activity contained in gelidium sp. The method used was an experiment which was analyzed descriptively with different solvents, namely methanol, ethyl acetate and N- hexane in the extraction process. The test parameter analysis carried out was proximate analysis, yield, qualitative and quantitative analysis of secondary metabolite compounds and antioxidant activity in the red seaweed Gelidium sp. The results of the research were that in the proximate analysis, the water content was 14.42% in the wet weight, the ash content was 8.94% in the dry weight, the fat content was 1.25% in the dry weight, the protein content was 17.27% in the dry weight and the carbohydrate content was 58. 12% in dry weight. The high carbohydrate content in seaweed is related to the presence of crude fiber components contained. Yield analysis resulted in an average flour yield of 35.76%. Analysis of secondary metabolite compounds showed the presence of alkaloids, steroids, saponins and phenolics in the methanol solvent; Alkaloid and steroid content in ethyl acetate solvent; and alkaloids and steroids in n-hexane solvent. Quantitative analysis of secondary metabolites was obtained from alkaloids in methanol solvent 685.21 ppm, Ethyl acetate 132.18 ppm, N-hexane 144.02 ppm, Steroids in methanol solvent 79.65 ppm, Ethyl acetate 1,337.19 ppm, N -hexane 284.37 ppm, saponin in methanol solvent 885.52 ppm and phenolic in methanol solvent 458.89 ppm. Antioxidant activity analysis showed that the methanol extract had an IC50 value of 229,133 ppm, ethyl acetate 425,103 ppm, and N-hexane 604,526 ppm.
