Status Mutu Sungai Pengambang Kota Pekanbaru Provinsi Riau Dengan Metode Indeks Pencemaran

Pengambang River is one of the rivers that crosses Pekanbaru City, with a length of 9.2 km which empties into the Siak River. The Pengambang River is the water source for Kayangan Lake. The current condition of the Pengambang River is thought to have experienced a decline in water quality due to various human activities in its watershed. This research aims to determine the quality status of the Pengambang River based on river water quality standards according to PP Number 22 of 2021. There are 13 water quality parameters measured, namely temperature, brightness, current speed, depth, river width, TSS, pH, DO, BOD, COD, Nitrate, Total Phosphate and Fecal Colifrom. The sampling locations were in the upstream of the Pengambang River, in the middle of the Pengambang River and in the downstream of the Pengambang River with sampling intervals three times in three months. The research results obtained for physical parameters, temperature ranged from 28.25 - 29.25 0C, transparancy ranged from 36.6 - 49.6 Cm, TSS ranged from 29 - 50.25 mg/l, current speed ranged from 0, 12 – 0.15 m/s. For chemical parameters pH ranges from 5.2 – 5.7, DO ranges from 3.67 – 4.05 mg/L, BOD ranges from 11.27 – 11.5 mg/l, COD ranges from 27.5 – 33 .5 mg/L, Nitrate ranges from 0.336 – 2.282 mg/L, Total Phosphate ranges from 0.006 – 0.196 mg/L. For the Biological parameters of Fecal Colifrom, the range is between 3633 – 171666 MPN. The quality status of the Pengambang River using the Pollution Index method is at a score of 1.61 - 11.5. The pollution index value shows that the water quality status of the Pengambang River has been polluted from slightly polluted to heavily polluted. There has been a decline in the water quality of the Pengambang River from upstream to downstream, which is indicated by the pollution index value which tends to increase. Based on the criteria for Class III rivers according to PP number 22 of 2021, the Pengambang River is included in the polluted river category
