Prarancangan Pabrik Butiraldehid Dari Propilen Dan Syngas Dengan Desain Alat Utama Menara Distilasi (T-102)
Pre-design of a butyraldehyde factory with a capacity of 50,000/year is intended to meet domestic demand for butiraldehyde, most of which is imported and is a country's commodity product that competes internationally with exports to the Southeast Asia region. Butyraldehyde is mostly used in the production of n-butanol, which in turn is used as a solvent in the coatings industry and in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, pyroxylin plastics, and polymers. The raw materials used in designing the butyraldehyde plant are propylene (C3H6) and syngas (H2 and O2). The process used is the hydroformylation process (oxo reaction). The raw material preparation process begins by changing the pressure and temperature of propylene and syngas to 18 bar and 90℃. Propylene and syngas are flowed to the Continuous stirred tank reactor to carry out the hydroformylation process to become n-butyraldehyde (i-C4H8O) and i-butyraldehyde (i-C4H8O) with a rhodium triphenylphosphine (RhTPP) catalyst. The butyraldehyde formed is then flowed to knock out drum I to separate the remaining reactants. Next, the butyraldehyde is flowed to knock out drum II to separate the remaining syngas. The feed from KOD II is then flowed to distillation I to separate butyraldehyde from propylene and propane on the principle of different boiling points. The separated butyraldehyde then flows to distillation tower II to be purified to a purity of 99.5% n-C4H8O. The purified n-C4H8O is flowed to the storage area. The location for the factory is planned to be in the Dumai Industrial Area (KID). The company form chosen is a Perseroan Terbatas (PT) with a line and staff organization system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. From the economic analysis, the results obtained were that the payback period was 3.56 years, the Internal Rate of Return was 28.26%, the Return of Investment was 27.17%, and the Break Even Point was 50%. Based on the parameters of payback period, internal rate of return, return of investment and break event point, this factory is worth establishing.
