Harapan Bersama’s Group is a new social movement actor that focuses on environmental issues, namely mangrove conservation in Pangkalan Jambi Village, Bukit Batu District, Bengkalis Regency. The purpose of the study was to analyze the group's efforts and describe the obstacles of the group's movement in preserving mangroves using the New Social Movement approach by Rajendra Singh. The technique of determining informants is by using Purposive sampling technique. The subjects in this study amounted to 6 active group members who had joined the group for more than 5 years and 1 key informant, namely the Pangkalan Jambi Village apparatus. The results showed that there were seven group efforts in carrying out the preservation movement. 1) Conducting socialization through lecture and practice methods outside the group. 2) Mobilizing the masses by inviting the village community to be involved in planting activities and attracting masses from outside by utilizing social media. 3) Procurement of seedlings and planting. 4) Conducting supervision and control efforts through ronda around the conservation area every day and implementing preventive and repressive controls. 5) Creating innovative wave breaking tools with a source of knowledge that comes from the actor's personal experience. 6) Establishing relationships. 7) Generating ideas to build ecotourism in the conservation area. For the movements carried out by the group, obstacles arise from outside, namely in the form of cooptation, formal social control, and ridicule. While the obstacles that come from within the group are the diminishing solidarity between members.
