Uji Bioaktivitas Ekstrak Teripang Berunok (Paracaudina Australis) Sebagai Antibakteri Staphylococcus Aureus Dan Escherichia Coli
Berunok (Paracaudina australis) is one of the typical marine biota of Karimun Island which is believed by the local community to prevent various diseases because it contains bioactive compounds that have the potential for human health. The purpose of the study was to determine the content of bioactive compounds contained in sea cucumber extract and to determine the most optimal concentration of methanol solvent as an inhibitor of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacterial activity. The research method was exploratory by conducting maceration extraction using methanol p.a. solvent, analysis of bioactive compounds and testing the antibacterial activity of sea cucumber extract. The results showed that the yield value of the sea cucumber extract was 0.75% from 2000 g of fresh sea cucumber. Secondary metabolite compounds in the extract of sea cucumber berunok positively contain alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, and steroid compounds. Methanol extract of sea cucumber berunok is able to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The inhibition zone against E. coli bacteria was 14.17 mm and against S. aureus bacteria was 14.05 mm, both at a concentration of 1000 µg/mL. The higher the concentration of the extract, the greater the zone of inhibition. Methanol extract of sea cucumber berunok in accordance with the inhibition zone category of 11-20 mm is declared to have strong inhibitory activity for both types of bacteria tested, so it has potential as an antibacterial.
