Evaluasi Kinerja Teknologi Modifikasi Cuaca (Tmc) Terhadap Indeks Kekeringan Dengan Metode Standardized Precipitation Index (Spi) (Studi Kasus : Kabupaten Bengkalis)
Based on the recapitulation of the area of forest and land fires in Riau Province. During the period january - july 2023, the area of forest and land fires in Riau Province has reached 2,220 hectares (ha), equivalent to 2.45% of the national forest and land fire area which totalled 90,405 ha. One of the regencies in Riau Province with the largest fire area is Bengkalis Regency with a fire area of 790.66 hectares. The government has implemented WMT activities to increase rainfall in the Riau Province area, especially Bengkalis Regency. This study aims to evaluate the performance of Weather Modification Technology (WMT) in mitigating the fire area that has been carried out. The evaluation was carried out based on the analysis of the Bengkalis Regency administrative map, the grid map of the area under study, CHIRPS rainfall and SIPONGI hotspots. Based on rainfall data, the drought index value is obtained using the SPI method. The results and discussion obtained that the WMT period that has been carried out based on the PCH value is said to be effective, based on the PHS value is said to be effective, and based on the PIK value is said to be effective. WMT has significant potential as a disaster mitigation strategy for forest and land fires in Riau Province, but further research and improvements in implementation are needed to achieve optimal results.
