PERANCANGAN BODI KENDARAAN HEMAT ENERGI TIPE URBAN CONCEPT GENERASI III

Aerodynamics is an important part of a vehicle because it has a major influence
when the vehicle is moving at a certain speed. Aerodynamics is influenced by form
factors and fluid flow that is in direct contact with the surface of the vehicle.
Aerodynamic drag is caused by the occurrence of stagnation areas at the front of
the vehicle through which fluid flow passes, the drag that occurs will singnificantly
affect the efficiency of fuel consumption. Thus the purpose of this final project is to
design a more aerodynamic urban concept type energy-saving vehicle body that has
a small drag coefficient and lift coefficient with reference to the Energy Saving Car
Contest standards. This final project will be carried out in several stages of
research. The first stage is verification of aerodynamic characteristics simulations
using the ahmed body model, then designing several urban concept type energyefficient vehicle body designs using autodesk fusion 360 software and simulating
characteristics using ansys R1 2020 software. During aerodynamic simulation, the
speed is varied from 10, 20, 30 to 40km / h which is adjusted to the needs of the
Energy Saving Car Contest regulations. In the last stage, the decision-making
matrix and analysis of the drag coefficient and lift coefficient are carried out. From
the results of the aerodynamic characteristics validation simulation using the
ahmed body, it is known that the large % error in the drag coefficient value is 1%
and the lift coefficient is 2%, meaning that the simulation results can be accounted
for because they have a % error < 10%. The results of the simulation show a
decrease in the drag coefficient value of the second candidate body against the
previous urban concept body, namely at a speed of 20 km / h a decrease in the drag
coefficient of 40.26% at 30 km / h a decrease of 51.73% and at 40 km / h a decrease
of 53.15%. This occurs because of the reduction of stagnation areas on the second
candidate body so that the second candidate body can be said to be more
aerodynamic.
