Struktur komunitas gastropoda dan bahan organik sedimen di zona intertidal perairan selat Panjang Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti Provinsi Riau
The research was conducted in May 2010 in Selat Panjang intertidal zone
in order to determine the gastropod community structure and total sediment
organic matter content as well as the relationship of total organic matter content of
sediment with the abudance of gastropods. The sampling was done in three
stations with three transect lines perpendicular to the coast line from high tide to
low tide, the distance between transects ±50 m. Gastropods were found in the
study area there were 12 genera with 93 to 260 ind/m2 abudance. Organic matter
content of sediment ranged from 7,62 to 21.58%. Generally it could be seen that
the relationship of total organic matter content of sediment with an abudance of
gastropods indicated a strong negative relationship with the equation Y= 266,5-
7,140 X (r = 0,74). Negative relationship between total organic matter content of
sediment with an abudance of gastropods showed that the increase in total organic
matter content of sediment followed by the decrease in the abudance of
gastropods.
