Preparasi Dan Karakterisasi Arang Aktif Kulit Manggis (Garcinia Mangostana L.) Serta Uji Aktivitas Adsorpsi Terhadap Larutan Metilen Biru
Mangosteen shell (Garcinia mangostana L.) is one of source carbon material which is contained about 58,39% of cellulose component. In this study, mangosteen shell as activated carbon was prepared by chemical activation method using H2SO4 activator. The results of this study showed that the optimum condition of preparation activated carbon based on the characterization were the concentration activator of H2SO4 5% with activation temperature 400°C for 120 minutes, with moisture content 2.58%, ash 9,86% and iodine number 760,89 mg g-1. This characterization result is fulfilled the standard activated carbon which is SNI 06-3730-1995. The maximum adsorption eficiency for methylene blue solution 10 mg L-1 is about 89,12% with optimum contact time for 50 minutes and its mechanism is refer to isoterm adsorption Langmuir.
