This research has the background that the habit of the people who still do land cultivation by burning. This happens because people assume that land-processing techniques by burning are cheaper and faster. The purpose of this research is to find out the land management system that is commonly carried out by the community and analyze the process of adopting innovations in land processing without the community in Dumai City. This research method uses survey and interview methods and sampling system using the snowball sampling method. Based on the results of the study, the treatment system carried out by the people in Dumai City experienced a transition, from burned without burn. The lavel of adoption of non-reasted land processing innovations in Dumai City through the process of community knowledge, persuasion, adoption, implementation and confirmation decisions that are categorized as “moderate” with an average score of 3,30.Key words : innovation adoption,transition of community habits, processing land
