Sifat Fisik Dan Mekanik Kayu Ulin (Eusideroxylon Zwageri) Di Kota Pekanbaru Berdasarkan Sni 7973:2013
Wood is one of the building materials that has long been recognized by our society and has been used for various purposes, including as a support for building structures. In Indonesia there are a lot of tree species produced from the forest, one of which is ulin wood. Plants that have the Latin name Eusideroxylon zwageri Teijsm belong to the Lauraceae tribe. Ulin wood trees have a height of up to 50 meters with a wood diameter of around 60 to 120 cm, ulin wood is known as strong class I wood and durable class I so that it has many benefits and is very popular with the community. The purpose of this study is to examine the scientific and mechanical properties of ulin wood so that it can obtain a modulus of flexural elasticity, flexural strength, compressive strength, shear strength and can be classified according to SNI 7973: 2013. In this study there are two variations, namely air-dried and oven-dried for samples of compressive strength and shear strength. The results obtained were 33.64 MPa of flexural strength with flexural elastic modulus value of 14.395,26 MPa, the value of compressive strength parallel to oven-dried is 26.69 MPa and air-dried is 17.58 MPa, while the results of the air-dried shear strength values were 3.04 MPa and oven-dried shear strength 2.81 MPa. From the mechanical properties obtained, it can be concluded that ulin wood can be used as a structural element.
Keywords: ulin wood, physical properties and mechanical properties, flexural strength, compressive strength, shear strength.
