Uji Degradasi Limbah Mikroplastik Oleh Bakteri Laut Di Kecamatan Dumai Barat Kota Dumai

M. FAJAR DZIKRI / 1504115810 - Nama Orang;

Nowadays, plastic use became’s more popular on daily life by people’s,
because it easy to use. Plastic waste from land can end on the sea, and it can
demage sea enviroment. Plastic waste without spesific treatment need’s at least
fifty (50) years to be degraded. Some marine bacteria may solve the problem in
degrading the plastic waste. The research was conducted in September-December
2019. Bacteria sample taken from sea water of Dumai, Riau. The sample was
analyzed in the Marine Microbiology Laboratory of Marince Science, Faculty of
Fishery and Marine, Riau University. The purpose of this research was to examine
plastic waste degradation by using marine bacteria. The method are: isolate
bacteria from polyethylene waste, degradation test on plastic waste, biofilm
respond test, identification of microplastic waste decomposing bakteria. The result
of this research concluded: Some of marine bacteria has the ability to degrade
plastic waste. 27 isolates obtained by isolation polyethylene waste from sea water
of Dumai, then were purified in order to be tilted to further test. A total of 10
isolates were sucessfully purified to test the determination of degradation of
polyethylene plastic by incubation for 1 month in thermo shaker at 130 rpm
agitation in room temperature. The most active bacteria that degrade plastic waste
in laboratory condition for 1 month incubation is ISL6 with degradation
percentage of 23.5465%.
Keywords: Bacteria, Degradation, Incubation, Isolation, Polyethylene.
