Penyisihan Kadar Besi (Fe) Dan Peningkatan Do Pada Air Gambut Menggunakan Cascade Aerator Berzeolit Dan Tanpa Zeolit Dengan Variasi Jumlah Step Dan Debit Aliran
ABSTRACT
Peat water in Sumatra has a high concentration of Fe. One technology
that can be applied to remove Fe concentration is aeration with a cascade
aerator. Cascade aerator is an aeration system arranged like stairs that can add
oxygen to the water, causing an oxidation reaction between oxygen and Fe which
will then cause Fe(OH)3 deposition. This study aims to determine the ability of
cascade aerators to increase DO and eliminate Fe content in peat water. The
study used variations in flow rate of 0.2, 0.15 and 0.1 l/min and the number of
steps 10 and 12 steps by comparing without zeolite and with zeolite, with an
initial concentration of DO which was 3.2 mg/l and a concentration of ferrous
metal 1.495 mg/l. The results of this study showed that the highest DO
concentrations without zeolite 10 and 12 steps were obtained, namely 4.15 mg/l
and 4.3 mg/l, while for those using zeolite, the concentrations were 4.75 mg/l and
4,95 mg/l with a discharge of 0.15 l/min. For the removal of the highest
concentration of Fe without 10 step and 12 step zeolite, each decreased to 0.746
mg/l with a removal efficiency of 49.88% and 0.634 mg/l with a removal
efficiency of 57.57%, while for those using zeolite, they were respectively its
concentration decreased to 0.548 mg/l with an efficiency of 63.32% and 0.381
mg/l with an efficiency of 74.5 % using a discharge of 0.15 l/min.
