Pengaruh Perang Rusia-Ukraina Terhadap Perdagangan Internasional
Ukraine is nicknamed the breadbasket of Europe because of its abundant agricultural production in the European region. Apart from Ukraine, Russia is also another major supplier of wheat to the world market. Russia is also the largest producer and exporter of oil, natural gas and coal, dominating the global fertilizer trade and becoming the largest fertilizer exporter. On February 24, 2022, Russian troops attacked major cities in Ukraine on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The invasion sparked international condemnation and was followed by the imposition of economic sanctions against Russia. Directly, this hampers the trade process in the world. The World Trade Organization (WTO) as an international organization plays an important role in regulating world trade issues. Basically, the purpose of the WTO itself is related to how smooth international trade can run. The purpose of writing this thesis is; First, the factors that hampered international trade due to the Russian-Ukrainian war and the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on international trade. Second, the role of the World Trade Organization in dealing with the problem of international trade that was hampered by the Russian-Ukrainian war.
This type of research can be classified as a normative research type. This research is research that will examine legal principles. The principle studied is the principle of comparative advantage. The data source used is secondary data. Data collection techniques using library study methods.
From the results of research on the problem, there are two main things that can be concluded. First, the factors that hampered international trade due to the Russia-Ukraine war were the decline in agricultural production in Ukraine, the blockade of Ukrainian ports by Russia, international sanctions imposed on Russia, and export bans by Russia, and the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war. Ukraine towards international trade which has an impact on the economy, international trade security and politics. Second, the role of the World Trade Organization in dealing with international trade problems hampered by the Russian-Ukrainian war, namely facilitating dispute resolution through the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB), supervising policies implemented by Russia and affected countries, and providing convenience and exceptions to affected countries. The author's suggestion is that Russia and Ukraine can remove trade barriers caused by war, that affected countries should not do similar things that could harm other countries, and that the WTO can play an active role by opening dispute resolution forums, monitoring and reviewing policies implemented by its member countries, and providing convenience and exceptions for affected countries.
