Karakterisasi Fitokimia Bunga Soka (Ixora Javanica (Blume) Dc.) Menggunakan Lc-Ms (Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) Serta Uji Toksisitasnya Menggunakan Metode BSLT
Ixora javanica (Blume) DC. commonly known as soka, is a popular ornamental plant because of its beautiful flowers. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this flower is rich in phytochemicals with significant health benefits, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and skin-brightening properties, making it a promising natural ingredient for safe applications in health and cosmetics. However, research on this flower's pharmacological potential remains limited. This study aims to identify the phytochemical composition of soka flower extract using LC-MS and evaluate its toxicity through the BSLT method by determining its LC50 value against the mortality of Artemia salina larvae. Extraction was carried out using maceration with 70% ethanol as the solvent. The extract was then analyzed via LC-MS, followed by toxicity testing using BSLT at concentrations of 25 ppm, 50 ppm, 75 ppm, 100 ppm, and 200 ppm, alongside a control group without extract addition. The results identified 52 compounds classified into eight major groups: alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, terpenoids, carbohydrates, fatty acids, vitamins, and carotenoids. Among these, alkaloids and flavonoids were the most dominant, demonstrating various pharmacological activities such as antioxidant, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory effects. These bioactive compounds also hold great potential for cosmetic applications, particularly in skincare for brightening, reducing inflammation, and preventing premature aging. Toxicity testing using the BSLT method indicated that soka flower extract had an LC50 value of 74.125 ppm, categorizing it as toxic. This finding suggests a correlation between the phytochemical content identified through LC-MS and the extract’s toxic activity, highlighting its potential as an anticancer agent.
