Poverty in districts in Riau Province, although some districts experienced a
decrease in poverty, in certain years there were districts where poverty increased.

2016 to 9.97% in 2017. Like wise with Siak Regency in 2016 poverty was 5.52% but in
2017 it increased to 5. 80%. Kampar was also the same in 2018 by 8.18% this number
increased compared to the previous year.
The purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of village funds, economic
growth and direct expenditure on district poverty in Riau Province in 2016 - 2020. The
data in this study used district data in Riau Province as many as 10 districts with a
research period of 2016 - 2020. The data analysis method was carried out. with panel
regression analysis method.
Based on the results of the study, it is known that village funds have a significant
negative effect on district poverty in Riau Province in 2016 - 2020. The use of village
funds is centered on infrastructure development that has not focused on community
economic development which results in the use of village funds to reduce poverty
considering that poverty can decrease in when able to meet the needs specified in the
poverty line. Economic growth has a significant negative effect on district poverty in Riau
Province in 2016 - 2020 Economic growth is a description of the economic capacity of
the community or population in an area so that economic growth increases, it explains
that the community's economy has increased so that it is able to meet needs according to
the provisions of the poverty line. Direct expenditure does not have a significant negative
effect on district poverty in Riau Province in 2016 – 2020, which this result explains that
the hypothesis is rejected. The allocation of direct expenditures is not only used in terms
of encouraging the improvement of facilities and infrastructure to increase community
productivity, making capital expenditures unable to partially explain poverty in districts
in Riau Province in 2016.
