Prarancangan Pabrik Butanediol Proses Davy Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Esterifikasi Maleat Anhidrat (R-101)
Butanediol is a bifunctional alcohol widely used in various industrial and medical applications. In the industry, butanediol is used as an organic solvent and as an intermediate in the manufacturing of several types of plastics and synthetic fibers. The butanediol plant is planned to be operational in 2030. To meet the demand for butanediol, a plant with a capacity of 30,000 tons per year is designed to be established in the Bontang Industrial Area, East Kalimantan. The chosen form of the company is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational system. The employee work system is based on a division of working hours that includes shift and non-shift employees. Butanediol is produced from maleic anhydride, methanol, and hydrogen using the Davy process. The main equipment design for this plant is the maleic anhydride esterification reactor column (R-101). This maleic anhydride esterification reactor operates at a pressure of 5 atm with a temperature of 150°C. The economic analysis of the preliminary design of the butanediol plant shows that this plant is feasible to be established with a Net Present Value (NPV) of Rp 690,592,637,824, which is greater than the Total Capital Investment (TCI) of Rp 496,643,162,204. The Break-Even Point (BEP) is 45.03%, the Rate of Investment (ROI) is 25.52%, and the Interest Rate of Return (IRR) is 22.551%.
