Competitiveness Analysis Of Indonesian Tea Exports Period 2013-2022

ABSTRACT

The objectives of this study are (a) to analyze how the comparison of the potential competitiveness of tea exports of Indonesia, China, India, Kenya, and Sri Lanka in the international market when viewed in terms of comparative advantage and (b) to analyze the position of tea exports of the five countries in the international market (c) to analyze the RCA and TSI value of Indonesian tea for the next 5 years. The method used in this research is the quantitative method with Revealed comparative advantage (RCA) and Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage (RSCA) analysis tools to analyze export competitiveness and the Index of Trade Specialization Index (ISP) to see the position of tea exports of Indonesia, China, India Kenya, and Sri Lanka in the international market and trend analysis to analyze the RCA and TSI value of Indonesian tea for the next 5 years.
The results showed the competitiveness of tea exports of Indonesia, China, India, Kenya, and Sri Lanka conducted through RCA and RSCA tests, averaging 1.63 and 0.201 for Indonesia, 461.27 and 0.896 for Kenya, Sri Lanka by 282.55 and 0.893, India by 5.6 and 0.7, and 1.7 and 0.249 for China. Based on the test results, Indonesia, China, India, Kenya, and Sri Lanka in the period 2013 to 2022 have tea competitiveness in the international market because the resulting RCA is greater than 1 (RCA>1) and RSCA is greater than 0 (RSCA>). The trade position tested using the Index of Trade Specialization (TSI) has an average value of 0.59 for Indonesia, 0.87 for Sri Lanka and India, Kenya of 0.85, and 0.65 for China. Based on the TSI test results, it can be concluded that Indonesia, China, India, Kenya, and Sri Lanka tend to be tea exporters in the international market because the TSI positive. The results of the forecasting analysis carried out for Indonesian tea exports in the next 5 years namely 2023-2027, the trend value of Indonesian RCA and TSI has decreased.
