An Analysis Of Writing Anxiety Of The Eighth Semester Students On Writing Thesis Proposal At English Study Program Universitas Riau
This study aims to analyze the level of writing anxiety of eighth semester students in writing a thesis proposal and to find out the factors causing writing anxiety in the process of writing a thesis proposal at English Study Program Universitas Riau. In this study, the researcher used a mix method approach. This study combines quantitative and qualitative methods to obtain a comprehensive and more robust picture of students' writing anxiety in writing a thesis proposal. Quantitative data were collected using a questionnaire, namely the Second Language Writing Anxiety Inventory (SLWAI), while qualitative data were obtained through structured interviews, namely the Caused of Writing Anxiety Inventory (CWAI). The use of mixed methods in this study provides a more comprehensive insight into the phenomenon of writing anxiety and offers practical implications to support students in the academic writing process. These findings indicate that 8th semester students at English Study Program, Universitas Riau have a high level of anxiety reaching 71%. Then the biggest factor that causes writing anxiety in writing a thesis proposal is due to insufficient writing technique, language difficulties and pressure of perfect works.
