Kajian pemanfaatan limbah Ikan Patin (Pangasius hypopthalmus) sebagai sumber asam lemak
The research conducted on March 2009 in the laboratory of Fish Technology
Product Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science University of Riau, Organic
Chemistry Laboratory of Mathematics Faculty University of Riau and Natural
sciences end Big Hall laboratory of Agriculture of Post Crop bogor.
Purpose of research was study utilization of catfish waste as source of fatty
acid. Catfish waste fat characteristic patin that were, rendement 13,32 % b/b - 14,06
% b/b, with rust colored fat, smells was stinking typical of fish, and viscid. Acid
number at catfish waste fat patin was 1,57 mgKOH/g - 1,88 mgKOH/g. From both
extraction methods of fat, better applied at utilization of catfish waste fat as the
source of fatty acid is organic solvent method (soxhlet). Acidulous catfish waste of
saturate fat (lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid and stearic acid), fatty acid was
not unique saturate (acid oleat/omega-9) and fatty acid was not multiple saturate
(acid linoleat/omega-6 and acid linolenat/omega-3). Catfish waste fat can be made as
the source of fatty acid which is of benefit to body that is as source of oleate fatty
acid (omega-9).
