ABSTRACT
This paper analyses why Japan choose Indonesia as the country’s
production base of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Japan in ASEAN region.
Initially, the company will be stationed in Thailand, although, because Thailand
have not a conducive security conditions because of political chaos by the Red
Shirts and reducing demand of marketsahre of automotive, Japanese repealed it.
Japan seen that Indonesia is more conducive than Thailand security.
The analyses uses library research methodology and data collection from
various sources such as books, newspapers, articles, and journasl. This paper
using the liberalis approach, which explained that for maximizes the global
walfare by conducting international trade. International trade seen as a profit
activity, it’s not a competition to seize a power and wealth. Individuals and
groups are provide the guarantee of freedom to improve an economic scale. This
paper using international investment theory and the comparative advantages
theory, where the developed country take places to invest in host country because
more profitable than in their country, each country that having a relations had a
comparative commodity, and it will be increased the profit and consumption.
This paper shows that Japan decision is to choose Indonesia because the
stability of security and the increasing of automotive sales in Indonesia more
profitable than Thailand, it became the main attraction of the TMC. Indonesia
and Japan had met for a negotiations while purpose Indonesia as a production
base country in ASEAN region. Beside it, Japan will be produce eco-car or hybrid
system to automotive in Indonesia to boost green environmental that suitable with
Indonesian government programme.
