Pengaruh Ph Larutan Dan Lama Perendaman Terhadap Laju Korosi Baja Aisi 4140 Menggunakan Inhibitor Ekstrak Daun Jambu Biji (Psidium Guajava, Linn)
Corrosion is the deterioration of metal by chemical attack or reaction with its environment. It is a constant and continuous problem, often difficult to eliminate completely. One of the method of inhibiting corrosion process is use corrosion inhibitors. Guava leaf extract contains tannins which can be used as inhibitor. AISI 4140 steel is an alloy of nickel and chromium steel. The purpose of this research is to know the concentration of phenol in guava leaf extract with soxhletation method and to know the effect of pH variation and the duration of immersion against corrosion rate. Soxhletation method was used to extract tannin from the guava leaf using solvent ethanol-water (1:2). FeCl3 test and Folin-CioCalteu phenol has been proved the presence of tannins in the guava leaf extract and concentration of tannins was 340.4 ppm. The smallest corrosion rate was at pH 9 used inhibitor 1000 ppm with duration of immersion 40 days resulting 0.00896 mm/year. While the biggest corrosion rate used inhibitors was at pH 5 with duration of immersion 10 days resulting 0.08963 mm/year. The higher solution pH and the longer immersion time, then the corrosion rate was lower. The biggest efficiency of inhibition was at pH 9 resulting 77.78% with duration of immersion 40 days.
