Pengaruh Laju Dan Waktu Pengadukan Dalam Proses Koagulasi Sampel Air Sungai Siak Menggunakan Koagulan Cair Berbasis Lempung Alam
SUMMARY
Maredan clay contained Al2O3 and Fe2O3 of 28.186% and 6.452% used as a precursor for liquid coagulant synthesis. Liquid coagulant was obtained by calcining clay at 700oC for 1 hour and leaching with 0.2 mol H2SO4 100oC for 2 hours. Coagulants were characterized to determine the cation of Al3+ , Fe3+ and pH. Liquid coagulant were tested to reduce some of the Siak River water parameters including color, organic substance content, pH, turbidity, Total Suspended Solid (TSS) and Total Dissolved solid (TDS). The Siak River water before and after coagulation was analyzed by Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) to determined the content of functional group. This coagulation process uses variation of stirring rate and time. The optimum stirring rate after coagulation was used to observed the variation of stirring time. The Siak River water parameters after coagulation were compared with PERMENKES No.416/MENKES/PER/IV/
1990 and TSS compared to PP. 82 of 2001. The obtained liquid coagulant has pH of 1,4 with the content of Al3+ 1,6 mgL-1 and Fe3+ 6,396 mgL-1. Coagulation process of Siak River, the optimum agitation rate 180 rpm for 2 minutes decreased of color 72,79%, organic matter 75,00%, turbidity 91,365% and TSS 90,63%. The Siak River water before and after coagulation contained compound functional groups of hydroxyl O-H, C-C aromatic and alkyl halide groups with different intensity.
