Pulp is the result of the separation of fibers from fibrous raw materials (wood or non wood) through various manufacturing processes (mechanical, semicemical, chemical). Pulp consists of fibers (cellulose and hemicellulose) as raw material for paper. Paper is goods in the form of thin sheets, the fiber used is usually in the form of natural fibers containing cellulose and hemicellulose. The purpose of this research is to utilize pineapple leaves and water hyacinth as an alternative raw material to substitute wood in the process of making pulp so that it can produce paper, to determine the characteristics of the pulp of pineapple leaves and water hyacinth in order to obtain good quality paper, to know and obtain a mixture of compositions from a mixture of pineapple leaf fiber pulp and water hyacinth fiber pulp. The method used in this study is a semi-mechanical soda method where the cooking solution used is NaOH. The first step is to clean the raw material, then the raw material is dried in the sun and cut into 2-3 cm sizes. The raw material is cooked with a cooking solution for 90 minutes at 100˚C. Cold pulp has been washed. Pineapple leaf hyacinth and water hyacinth pulp is mixed with a weight ratio composition of pineapple leaf and water hyacinth pulp (1: 0), (0: 1), (2: 8), (8: 2), (4: 6), (6: 4). Then soaked with water as much as 4 Liters for 24 hours. Then the printing process and physical and chemical properties of the paper are tested. The best composition for tensile strength tests is the ratio (0: 1) with a value of 4.7238 kN, for the tear strength test is at a ratio (1: 0) of 462.6 mN, for thickness test (thicknes) is at a ratio (1: 0) of 575.6429 µm, for grams is at a ratio (1: 0) of 67.1452 gr / m2, for the test the water content is at a ratio (0: 1) of 3.02% and for a kappa number (kappa number) is the ratio (1: 0) of 16.2643.
