Karakteristik Briket Arang Tongkol Dan Kelobot Jagung Dengan Perekat Tapioka
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study to get the best combination of corncobs and
cornhusks in making charcoal briquettes. The study was conducted experimentally
using a complete randomized design method consisting of 5 treatments and 3
replications to get 15 expremintal units. The treatments in this study were the
ratio of corncobs charcoal and cornhusk charcoal as follows: TK1 (0:100), TK2
(25:75), TK3 (50:50), TK4 (75:25) and TK5 (100:0). The parameters observed in
this study were density, compressive strength, water content, vapour content, ash
content, bound carbon content and heating value. The results of corncobs and
cornhusk shells had a significant effect on density, compressive strength, water
content, vapour content, ash content, bound carbon content and heating value.
Based on the results of the analysis, the best treatment in this study were TK4
(75:25) with a density of 0.66 g/cm3, compressive strength of 0.20 kg/cm2, water
content 2.87%, evaporating content 15.40%, content ash 3.91%, bound carbon
content 80.71%, and heating value 7815.39 cal/g.
