Pengaruh Pesan Body Shaming Di Media Sosial Twitter Terhadap Citra Diri Yang Di Moderasi Oleh Self Confidence Remaja Perempuan
The development of social media brings a new trend in society as a platform for online oppression in the form of body shaming through Twitter social media. Body shaming is the act of commenting on a person's physical appearance or self-image, which is an act of bullying. The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence body shaming messages in social media twitter to the self-image of moderation by in self-confidence young women. The theory used is the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) and new media.
In this study using a descriptive quantitative approach. The number of the population in this study is unknown, so the method in determining the sample uses the Lemeshow formula with an error rate of 10% and a sample of 100 respondents was obtained. The sample that has been determined is spread using the method accidental sampling, with the criteria of 12-21 years old girls who are active users of Twitter social media who have experienced body shaming. The data collection technique is by distributing questionnaires online, and the data is processed using Microsoft Excel 2010 and SPSS 21.
The results of this study indicate that: (1) body shaming messages have a positive and significant effect on self-image, (2) self-confidence is not moderating variable in this study or self confidence cannot moderate messages body shaming on self-image.
