Efek Pemberian Pupuk Organik Super K Dan Berbagai Ukuran Umbi Terhadap Serapan Unsur Kalium (K) Dan Produksi Tanaman Bawang Merah (Allium Ascalonicum L.)
Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are one of the tuber-producing horticultural commodities that can be used in the form of direct spices or packaged fried onions. Factors that cause the need for shallots to be unfulfilled in Riau such as the lack of land expansion for shallot cultivation, the size of the bulbs used for seedlings is less than optimal and the soil conditions are less fertile so that the soil's ability to provide K nutrients is low. Efforts to increase the availability of K are the presence of the addition of K fertilizer. One of the fertilizers that can be used is Super K organic fertilizer which contains 20.93% K2O elements.
This study aimed to examine the interaction between the dose of Super K organic fertilizer and tuber size, the main effect of Super K organic fertilizer, and the main effect of tuber size on K uptake and shallot production. The research was carried out in the technical service unit of the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Binawidya Campus Km 12.5, Pekanbaru City from May to July 2021. The study was conducted experimentally using a factorial randomized block design, where factor I was the application of Super K organic fertilizer which consists of 4 levels, namely P0 = no Super K organic fertilizer, P1 = Super K organic fertilizer 429 kg.ha-1 equivalent to 42.9 g/plot, P2 = Super K organic fertilizer 715 kg.ha-1 equivalent to 71.5 g/plot , P3 = Super K organic fertilizer 1,286 kg.ha-1 equivalent to 128.6 g/plot. Factor II is the use of tuber size which consists of 3 levels, namely small tubers (1.4 cm – 1.5 cm), medium-sized bulbs (1.7 cm – 1.8 cm) and large tubers (1.9 cm – 2.0 cm), so there are 12 treatment combinations repeated 3 times, so there are 36 experimental units.
The observed variables consisted of soil chemical properties, plant K nutrient content and absorption, amount of chlorophyll, photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, stomata conductivity, CO2 concentration in cells, plant height, number of tillers per clump, tuber diameter, fresh tuber weight per plant, dry tuber weight per plant and production efficiency. Data were analyzed using variance and further tested with Duncan's multiple distance test at 5% level.
The results showed that there was an interaction between the treatment of Super K organic fertilizer and tuber size on the variables of stomatal conductivity and transpiration rate, but did not provide interaction on the other variables. Super K organic fertilizer application can increase the rate of photosynthesis but not other variables. Bulb size can increase the number of tillers and fresh tuber weight per plant but not on other variables.
