Prarancangan Pabrik Fenol Dan Aseton Dari Cumene Menggunakan Proses Kbr Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Oksidator
ABSTRACT
The chemical industry's demand for chemicals such as phenol and acetone has
continued to increase due to the wide application of the two materials. phenols
are used to produce various chemical intermediates such as bisphenol-A, phenolic
resins, caprolactam, alkyl phenols, and anilines. While acetone is used to produce
synthetic chemical products such as ketene, methyl metacrylate, diacetone
alcohol, methyl isobutyl ketone, hexylene glycol, and isophorone. Therefore, to
suppress imports and meet domestic demand for phenol and acetone, development
of related industries is needed. The purpose of this study is to pre-design phenol
and acetone plants from cumene using the KBR process with a production
capacity of 30,000 tons / year. The raw materials used are cumene, oxygen,
hydrogen gas, sulfuric acid, and sodium hydroxide. The factory will be
established in the Pelintung area, Dumai Industrial Estate, Dumai, Riau. The
main design tool is an oxidizing reactor with bubble reactor type which is used to
react cumene and oxygen to form cumene hydroperoxide (CHP). This reactor is
operated with temperature of 115º C and pressure of 2 bar. Economic analysis is
carried out in order to review the feasibility of establishing a factory from an
economic perspective. Based on the calculation of economic feasibility, the value
of the rate of investment (ROI) is 19.84%; payback period (PBP) of 4.54 years;
break even point (BEP) by 45%; and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 49.823%.
Through these eligibility parameters, the factory is feasible to be established.
