Anxiety or shame is known as communication apprehension (CA). Communication anxiety is a feeling of anxiety that individuals feel when the individual communicates and interacts with other people. This study aims to determine the effect of Self-Confidence and Self-Concept on Interpersonal Communication Anxiety Communication Studies Students Interpersonal Communication Studies.
This study uses a quantitative method with a correlation approach. The population in this study was 857, then by using the Slovin formula, a sample of 90 respondents was obtained. The sampling method to determine the respondents in this study used a proportionate stratified random sampling technique (stratified sampling technique).
From this research, the result is that the constant value (a) is 64,458. This means that if the Self-Confidence and Self-Concept of Communication Anxiety Students at the University of Riau is assumed to be zero (0), then the Interpersonal Communication Anxiety of Communication Studies Students at the University of Riau remains at 64,458. The regression coefficient value of 0.612 states that Self-confidence in Interpersonal Communication Anxiety has increased by 1 unit, then Interpersonal Communication Anxiety has increased by 0.612. The regression coefficient value of 0.264 states that the self-concept in Interpersonal Communication Anxiety has increased by 1 unit, then Interpersonal Communication Anxiety has increased by 0.264. The standard error (e) is a random variable and has a probability distribution that represents all factors that have an influence on Y but are not included in the equation. Based on the calculation of the coefficient of determination (R2), it is known that the R Square value is 0.263. This shows that self-confidence and self-concept are able to influence interpersonal communication anxiety of Communication Science students, Riau University, which is 26.3%.
