Pengembangan Multimedia Berbasis Snowball Throwing Untuk Melatih Kemampuan Kognitif Pada Materi Suhu Dan Kalor Siswa SMP/Mts
The problem found in the learning process is the low cognitive ability of
students. The influencing factors are abstract lesson concepts that are difficult for
students to understand such as temperature and heat material, not attractive
learning media used by teachers, and lack of student involvement in actively
developing thinking skills in the learning process. Therefore, it is necessary to have
an alternative solution, namely multimedia based on snowball throwing to train
students' cognitive abilities on temperature and heat material.
This research aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective snowball
throwing-based multimedia to be able to train students' cognitive abilities on
temperature and heat material. This research was conducted at the Science
Education Laboratory, Riau University and SMP Negeri 5 Dayun. The development
model used in this study is the ADDIE development model with analyze, design,
development, implementation, evaluation stages.
This research conducted several tests, namely validation tests, one-on-one
trials, practicality tests, and effectiveness tests on snowball throwing-based
multimedia. Based on the validation test by media experts, materials, multimedia
pedagogics based on snowball throwing were declared valid with an average score
of 3.81; 3.62; and 3.66. The results of the one-on-one trial obtained an average
score of 3.67 with very good criteria. Practicality tests were conducted on teachers
and students. The results of the practicality test on teachers and students obtained
a very practical snowball throwing-based multimedia with an average score of 3.68
and 3.70. After obtaining valid and practical multimedia, then the multimedia
effectiveness test was carried out on students. The results of the effectiveness test
state that snowball throwing-based multimedia can train students' cognitive
abilities with average score of 80.16% of the effective criteria.
The results of the research as whole concluded that the results of the
multimedia design based on snowball throwing were in accordance with the needs.
Snowball throwing-based multimedia was also declared valid, practical, and
effective to train students' cognitive abilities on temperature and heat material.
