Ekstraksi Minyak Atsiri Dari Daun Eucalyptus Hybrid Dengan Metode Microwave Hydrodistilation And Gravity
ABSTRACT
Eucalyptus leaf is one of the essential oil-producing ingredients. The purpose of this study was to study the effect of sample conditions (fresh leaves and dried leaves), whole leaves and chopped leaves, as well as the extraction time on the yield of essential oils extracted from hybrid eucalyptus leaves using the microwave hydrodistillation and gravity (MHG) method. The essential oils obtained were compared for color, odor, and solubility in 80% ethanol according to the quality requirements of the Indonesian National Standard SNI (SNI 3954:2014). In this study, samples were used, namely fresh and chopped fresh eucalyptus leaves and dried eucalyptus leaves. In addition, the extraction time was varied (15 minutes, 30 minutes and 45 minutes). The results showed that the highest yield in the treatment of samples that were chopped dry with an extraction time of 45 minutes was 6.9512 %. The characteristic test of eucalyptus leaves included: color, odor and solubility in 80% ethanol. The color of the essential oil obtained is clear, with a characteristic eucalyptus odor. In the ethanol solubility test, the essential oil produced is soluble in 80% ethanol. The essential oil obtained (color, odor, and solubility in 80% ethanol) has a quality that is in accordance with the quality requirements of SNI 3954:2014.
