This study aimed to develop and produce a teacher teaching module in the implementation of the Merdeka uriculum, aimed at improving teacher competence in carrying out the social studies learning process and increasing student learning motivation at SMPN 4 Pekanbaru. The research approach used was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model. The teaching modules designed were in accordance with the module components in the Kurikulum Merdeka. The collection of research data was carried out using observation techniques, interviews, validation, dissemination of questionnaires and documentation. The data was then analyzed with needs analysis techniques, analysis of validation results, analysis of effectiveness and pre-employment levelof teaching modules. Analysis of needs and validation data was carried out with a descriptive qualitative approach, then the analysis of the effectiveness and practicality of the module was carried out with a descriptive quantitative approach.
The research and development stage began with analysis (analyze), the results of the analysis found that so far social studies teachers have never compiled teaching modules that were in line with the independent curriculum, and only adopted from the independent teaching platform, which of course there were parts that were not in accordance with the characteristics of their respective schools. Thus the teacher must develop it independently according to the conditions of the school and students. Furthermore, the teaching modules on the PMM platform were only examples, and do not cover the entire material. The series of needs analysis was evaluated with relevant theories, until it can be concluded that students and teachers need social studies teaching modules that can help teachers carry out learning systematically to meet student learning needs, increase student learning motivation, in accordance with curriculum demands, and were supported by school characteristics that were different from other schools.
Needs analysis data became a reference for the next stage, namely design or planning. The class VII social studies teaching module was designed as a module accompanied by developments in several aspects, which make it suitable for needs and different from the appearance and content of the teaching module on the Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM). Furthermore, the class VII social studies teaching module was also made in electronic form that can be viewed and read using android. The next stage was the development of a class VII social studies teaching module. This development was carried out based on examples of teaching modules on the Merdeka Mengajar Platform released by the government through the Ministry of Education and Culture for reference materials forschools to compile teaching modules. This design was made using the Canva education application, where on each page a hyperlink is made with a teaching module concept map consisting of the initial components, core components and attachments.
After evaluating the class VII social studies teaching module based on the input of the validator team and social studies teachers, the design of the teaching module was improved. The design of the teaching module was made utilizing Canva education so
that the appearance is more attractive. Pthere was this research, evaluation was carried out at each set of stages of research and development. At the needs analysis stage, evaluation was carried out by analyzing observation and interview data, and looking at it from the aspect of theoretical studies. Evalution was carried out at the stage of developing teaching modules and content.
The results of the research prepared from the module effectiveness test show that the social studies teaching module can be one of the factors that affect student learning motivation. Based on the analysis of student motivation and teacher response to the use of teaching modules, it was known that the presence of teaching modules makes teaching and learning activities more interesting and fosters students' enthusiasm for learning. Teaching modules also help learning be more effective, clarify the material presented, involve many components so that there was interaction between students, teachers, and learning resources.
Before using the teaching module, some students were at a level of insufficient and sufficient motivation. 20 grade VII students have responded to 15 items of instruments distributed to determine their level of learning motivation after the teacher uses the teaching module in social studies learning. The categories present in such assessments are high, sufficient and lacking. After analysis, it was found that using the teaching module, 14 students (70%) showed high learning motivation, 6 students (30%) had sufficient learning motivation, and none of the students had learning motivation in the less category.
To see the effectiveness of using the module on learning motivation, a different test of motivation results was used before and after using the media. It can be seen that there was an increase in the average student learning motivation which was previously only 25.85 after using the module to 45.1. All students experienced an increase in average motivation scores after learning to use the module. There were no students who experienced a decrease, due to a negative ranks score of 0, and there were also no students with the same motivation score between before and after using the module. Asignificance of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. The number 0.000 means that there was a significant difference between students' learning motivation before and after using the module. The average results of motivation and significance of different tests show that social studies teaching modules were effective for increasing student learning motivation. This teaching module was still limited to some materials, it was hoped that other researchers can create social studies teaching modules for one semester material, and applied in the long term to form students' good habits from learning motivation that has increased before.
