Pengaruh Ukuran Partikel Kulit Udang Dan Waktu Kontak Adsorben Kitin Dari Kulit Udang Pada Proses Adsorpsi Ion Logam Fe2+ Dalam Larutan Feso4.7h2o
ABSTRACT
Shrimp waste in the form of shells, heads and tails which contain protein, can be processed into chitin which has many uses. Chitin is a polymer produced by shellfish (shellfish). Indonesia is one of the largest shrimp producers in the world, where the shell contains chitin compounds as an alternative adsorbent. This compound can be processed and used as an adsorbent for heavy metals. One of the polluting metals in water is ferrous metal (Fe2+). This study aims to examine the effect of shrimp shell particle size and contact time of chitin adsorbent from shrimp shells on the adsorption process of Fe2+ metal ions in FeSO4.7H2O solution. This research method begins with the preparation of shrimp shell samples, then deproteination process with 4% NaOH for 1 hour, demineralization process with 1 M HCl for 1 hour, depigmentation process with 4% NaOCl for 1 hour. The adsorption process of chitin adsorbent from shrimp shells used a mass of 1 gram, variations in particle size -40+60, -60+100 and -100+120 mesh and contact time of 60; 90; and 120 minutes with a stirrer speed of 125 rpm and a metal ion adsorbate concentration of Fe2+ of 5 ppm and was measured using an AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry). The results showed that chitin adsorbent from shrimp shells had the highest adsorption capacity at contact time of 120 minutes with a particle size of -100+120 mesh, namely 2.225 mg/g and an adsorption effectiveness value of 89%.
