REPRESENTATION OF MOTHER AND CHILD RELATIONSHIP IN THE LYRICS OF THE SONG BERTAUT BY NADIN AMIZAH

Song lyrics are a form of expression about what a person has seen, heard, or experienced. The personal experience then became an inspiration in conveying the message of love through songs. Representation is the act of presenting or describing something whether an event, person, or object through something else outside of itself, usually in the form of a sign or symbol. This research focuses on the song Bertaut by Nadin Amizah whose lyrics describe the relationship between mother and child. The purpose of this research is to find out the meaning of the relationship between mother and child in the lyrics of the song Bertaut.
This research uses a qualitative approach with a focus on interpretative document studies and uses Ferdinand De Saussure's semiotic model consisting of signifier and signified to analyse the meaning of mother and child relationships in the lyrics of the song Bertaut. The object of this research is the lyric stanzas in the form of text in the song Bertaut which totalled 7 stanzas. The data collection techniques used are observation, literature study, and documentation. This research uses source data validity techniques.
The results of this research are: (1) Representation of Mother and Child Relationship in Bertaut song lyrics displayed by the signifier aspect based on what is displayed directly in the song lyrics in the form of text captured by our five senses. (2) The signified aspect in the lyrics of the song Bertaut is based on the mental image or concept of the text, through the results of the analysis of the implied meaning and hidden meaning that is stored behind what is conveyed through the song lyrics. The metaphor used in the lyrics of this song describes the relationship between mother and child that is closely intertwined like heartbeats that are intertwined. (3) Concepts related to the quality of the relationship between mother and child in the lyrics of the song Bertaut were found, including warmth, security, trust, positive affection, and responsiveness.
