An Analysis Of Political Metaphor In Headlines News Of The Jakarta Post

The aim of this research is to find out political metaphors in headline news of The Jakarta Post and to figure out the type of conceptual metaphor that is most frequently used there. This is qualitative research with an analysis method. The data is taken from the headlines of the news on the politics section of The Jakarta Post from January 1st 2021 to January 31st 2023. From the research, it is found that there are 20 kinds of political metaphors in the headlines of The Jakarta Post during the past two years. It is also found that 183 data belong to structural metaphor, 31 data belong to orientational metaphor, and 71 data belong to ontological metaphor. From this research, it can be concluded that structural metaphor is the type of conceptual metaphor that is used the most in the headline news of political issues in The Jakarta Post. It is suggested to examine other media in the political field such as the president’s speech and legislative campaign.
