An Analysis Of English Code-Mixing On Instagram Comment’s Column Nadiem Makarim (Ministry Of Education, Culture, Research And Technology)

This study aims to find out the code mixing of English, The purpose of
this study is to find out the types and the reason code-mixing. This study was
examined using a qualitative descriptive approach as the data used came in the
form of words, sentences and images. The results of the research are three types
and six reason of code-mixing that appeared in Nadiem Makarim's Instagram
comment column. From ninety-five data, thirty-seven data are intra-sentential,
eleven data is classified as intra-lexical, three data were classified as involving a
change of pronunciation, twenty-five data are talking about particular topic, four
data are quoting somebody else, six data classified as being emphatic, six data
classified interjection, one data is classified repetition, and two data were
classified as expressing group identity. It can be concluded that in this research,
the most common type of intra-sentential code mixing occurs in Nadiem
Makarim's Instagram comment column.
