Uji Efektivitas Ekstrak Tepung Daun Sirih (Piper Betle) Sebagai Insektisida Nabati Terhadap Larva Helicoverpa Armigera Hubner Pada Jagung Manis
ABSTRACT
Corn has a high nutritional content as a staple ingredient to replace rice, yield loss due to H. armigera larvae in Indonesia reaches 80%. The attack area of H. armigera in Indonesia in 2017 was 2,488 ha and in Riau it was 89 ha. Betel leaf (Piper betle) is a plant that has the potential as a botanical insecticide to control pests. This study aims to obtain an effective concentration of betel leaf flour extract (Piper betle) for controlling H. armigera. This research was conducted in the Laboratory of Plant Pests, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from March to May 2022. The research was conducted experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five treatments with four replications to obtain 20 experimental units. The treatment given was several extracts of betel leaf flour, namely 0 g.l-1 water, 25 g.l-1 water, 50 g.l-1 water, 75 g.l-1 water, 100 g.l-1 water. The results showed that the application of betel leaf powder extract with a concentration of 100 g.l-1 water was the best concentration to kill H. armigera larvae because it was capable of causing a total mortality of 90% with an initial death time of 12 hours after application and a lethal time of 50 at 34.50 hours. A concentration of 75 g.l-1 water is an effective concentration because it causes a total mortality of H. armigera larvae by 85% with an initial death time of 15.25 hours after application and a lethal time of 50 at 41 hours after application.
