Pertumbuhan Dan Hasil Tanaman Kacang Hijau (Vigna Radiata L.) Generasi M8 Hasil Mutasi Sinar Gamma
This study aimed to evaluate the improvement in growth and yield of M8
generation mung bean plants (Vignaradiata L.) resulting from gamma ray
mutation, in an effort to obtain plants with synchronous pod maturity
characteristics and high pod weight production. The study employed a completely
randomized design (CRD), involving a population of parent plants and 4
progenies, namely M8-18-3-1-6, M8-18-3-1-17, M8-18-3-1-18, and M8-18-3-1-
19. Each population was planted in plots measuring 1.8 m x 1.8 m with a planting
distance of 30 cm x 30 cm. The parent population was planted in 8 plots, and each
progeny (M8-18-3-1-6, M8-18-3-1-17, M8-18-3-1-18, and M8-18-3-1-19) was
planted in 8 plots as well. Each plot consisted of 36 individual plants.
Observations were made on all individuals in the experimental unit plant
populations. The observed parameters were: germination rate, plant height,
flowering age, harvesting age, pod length, number of pods per plant, weight of
pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, number of seeds per plant, weight of
seeds per plant, 100 seed weight, and synchrony of maturity. The observation data
were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance and subsequently tested with
the 5% Tukey's honestly significant difference (HSD) test. The variation for each
population and the coefficient of variation were calculated using the XLStat
program. Homogeneity of Variance (HOV) was used to determine whether the
variation among populations was uniform or not, using Levene's test.
The research results showed that M8-18-3-1-6 mung bean plants exhibited
superiority in flowering age, harvesting age, number of seeds per pod, number of
seeds per plant, 100 seed weight, and synchrony of maturity. In the population
M8-18-3-1-17, the superiority was more prominent in the weight of pods per
plant, number of seeds per pod, and 100 seed weight. M8-18-3-1-6 produced the
highest average values for flowering age, harvesting age, pod length, number of
pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, number of seeds per plant, weight of
seeds per plant, 100 seed weight, and synchrony of maturity compared to the
parent and other M8 progenies.
