Community Empowerment of Ulos Weavers in North Tapanuli Regency

ABSTRACT
North Tapanuli Regency is one of the districts in North Sumatra Province which is known for its ulos weaving, almost the majority of the people rely on weaving products to help the economy. However, the potential has not been able to improve the welfare of the ulos weavers in North Tapanuli Regency. This study used qualitative research methods. The theory used is that the success of community empowerment is considered successful if it is able to reach the following phases (Sulistiyani, 2017): the absorption phase, the development phase, the rotation phase and the preservation phase. The results of this study indicate that the community empowerment of ulos weavers has been able to reach 4 phases, but the evaluation carried out in the preservation phase proves that the goal of empowering the ulos weavers community has not been fully realized. low, and a limited budget. Thus the community is expected to be able to develop their potential either through training/coaching.
